Users asked to help boost Guide Dogs for Blind fund-raising

VOLUNTEERS from Bexhill and Rother West branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association are hoping for fine weather today and tomorrow.

They will be outside Sainsbury's store with their collecting boxes.

They were blessed with a fine Spring day for their coffee morning and sale last Saturday.

Little Common Community Centre was quickly a hive of activity as soon as the doors of the centre were opened.

The branch does not do anything by halves.

The well-stocked bookstall stretched down most of one side of the hall. In front of the stage was an impressive array of cakes.

New lines in the Guide Dogs gifts range include guide soft toys.

The raffle stall was doing steady trade as was the bric-a-brac.

Volunteers in the kitchen were kept busy keeping pace with demand for coffee.

Chairman Nigel Lockwood is looking to boost the impact of branch events by involving more guide dog users.

It is no secret that the presence of a user with their guide dog does much to win supporters for the cause.

Any guide dog users who feel able to assist by attending branch fund-raising events is invited to contact the chairman on 01580 882204.

Saturday's event raised 363.89 towards the training of new guide dogs.
