Valentines Evening at Peterhouse

FEBRUARY 14TH arrived 15 days later than usual for residents and staff at Peterhouse residential home, as they chose break with tradition by leaping forward to 29th February to celebrate a special Valentines evening.

Staying with the traditional Valentines theme of red and black, residents and staff, along with friends and family, enjoyed a special meal, consisting of 'love punch' for starters, coq au vin for the main course, followed by a chocolate sundae dessert served with strawberries and marshmallows which, General Manager Lesley Crisford described as, "a little bit of love food."

However, the delicious food, drink and mellow music from the disco, along with the ambiance of the surroundings, did not act as an aphrodisiac on this occasion as, despite rumours that there was a lady or two who might take advantage of both the day and the romantic event and pop the question to unsuspecting men in the room, none were forthcoming.

Lesley said the event came about following a 'Big Bash' night which was held for the residents last September. She said: "They loved the glitz and glamour of the evening and as soon as it was over they asked for something similar again. This is a nice evening where they can come and enjoy; an evening where they can dress up and have relatives and friends join them."
