VIDEO: Our clown town is coming alive...

About 100 clowns are expected to provide plenty of fun and laughter in Bognor Regis this weekend.

The turnout for their annual parade on Sunday is likely to be the biggest gathering of the funnymen and women 'Clown Town' has enjoyed since 1994.

The return of such a large concentration of humour mongers has prompted organisers at the town council to issue a health warning about the hours of mirth and mayhem which they are likely to cause.

Parade organiser and events officer Sue Holmes said: "The parade may result in an outbreak of foot-tapping and laughter and giggles."

It will begin just after 2pm and is expected to last two hours.

The procession will be led by the Mardi Grass Joymakers Jazz Band from the Butlins day visitors' entrance in Gloucester Road along the seafront to Lennox Street.

They will turn into the High Street before going north along Bedford Street and then heading south through the London Road precinct.

The parade will rejoin the High Street as far as Clarence Road which will it follow back on to the seafront to return to Butlins.

For those who can't wait until Sunday, there will be several other chances to see the clowns in action.

They will be arriving in Butlins tomorrowwhere they will be performing in the holiday site's Circus Circus weekend.

Saturday will some of the clowns entertaining shoppers along the London Road precinct.

This is the third year the clowns have come back to Bognor in a partnership between the town council, Butlins and Clowns International.

The revival follows the giant international clown conventions which dominated each March between 1985 and 1994.

Hundreds of clowns would converge on Bognor from around the world for almost a week. Stars such as Ken Dodd, Ron Moody and the late Jeremy Beadle also joined in the fun.
