VIDEO: Stunning footage of hospital demolition
The Harness Block at Southlands Hospital, in Shoreham, is being demolished to make way for housing. The latest pictures of the work were published yesterday – click here to see a series of them, and more details on the future of the hospital site.
Thousands of people from across Sussex worked at the hospital or were treated there over the years, with countless babies being born at Southlands over many decades, before maternity services transferred to Worthing Hospital in 1997.

To be allowed to fly his drone legally in urban areas, Eddie had to complete an unmanned aircraft pilot course accreditted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
He said: “There was six-months of hands-on training being taught how to fly, several months’ web-based theory, a CAA three-day course on weather and aviation law, physics of aircraft, air safety, human factors, deployment procedures, and two written tests – not multiple choice. I have a licence and insurance for £5million. I can also fly at night, which is quite rare.
“It can be a dangerous piece of equipment in the wrong hands and should not be flown in public places without having a licence and very specific aviation insurance.”
