THE swarm of bees that gathered outside shops in Chichester today has been collected by a beekeeper.
Tony Cropley, swarm collector for the Chichester area, arrived at around 4pm and estimated there were a few thousand bees, including the queen bee.
Tony said they had been attempting to find a new home, possibly because their current hive had run out of room.
He also said that the warm weather meant that further swarms were likely to be seen locally in the coming weeks.
The swarm had caused quite a stir as it gathered around some bikes on South Street, right outside Cafe Ricara and opposite the Fountain pub.
