Weekend of live music in Yapton goes down a treat

Musical notes were turned into pound notes at the fifth 4Sight Hobbs Farm Music Festival in Yapton which raised £16,000 for the charity at the weekend.

Crowds of people of all ages gathered in the farm's large courtyard to watch 16 different local music acts performing in warm sunny weather.

For the first time the festival began on the Friday night, with opening act Modern Ruin. Highlights throughout the weekend included guitar duo the Move-Ons, the Poopahs with their mix of funk, blues and rock, and John Otway with his offbeat humour and unique style.

Richard Brownsword from Chichester-based band the Poophas said: "It was a fantastic festival in a really nice location.

"We were really happy to take part and ended up performing for an hour and a half.

"We would definitely return to Hobbs Farm next year."

As well as enjoying the music, festival goers had the chance to browse various stalls selling homemade goods, take part in late-night singing and join in a camp-fire gathering.

Organisers said a huge number of families decided to camp overnight in the farm's fields and spend the whole weekend at the festival.

Martin Pearson, chief executive of 4Sight said: "Yet again the Hobbs Farm Festival has provided us with great music, and a fantastic sum of money to support 4SIGHT's work in West Sussex.

"Volunteers produced an amazing number of bacon rolls, burgers, drinks and snacks for the festival goers.

A bar selling locally produced beer and cider went down well in the warm afternoon sun.

"We are so grateful to Pat and family at Hobbs Farm, all of the musicians, stage crew, volunteers and members of the public who supported us."
