Wettest month on record

Last month was the wettest February known in Bognor Regis.

A total of 114.3mm of rain fell to just pip the previous highest total of 113.7mm in 1990 '“ records stretch back to 1894. The rain fell on 19 of the 28 days. Wettest was the 13th with 21.6mm.

The monthly amount was about two-and-a-half times the amount of rain which occurred in February last year and the seasonal average. In spite of the seemingly constant clouds, last month also featured an above average amount of sunshine. The 92.4 hours was slightly more than the 88.3 hours expected. Most sunshine was the 7.7 hours on the 26th.

It was the warmest February for five years.
