We've hit the jackpot!

AN Uckfield couple are thanking their lucky stars after scooping nearly 1 million.

Brian and Angela Chewter won 943,161 in last week s National Lottery midweek draw when they matched all six numbers.

Engineer Brian revealed that the winning numbers were based on a lucky birth scroll given to him by his mum entitled The Day You Were Born. The scroll contains six lucky numbers, all of which featured in the draw.

Mr Chewter, 44, said he was sitting in his bedroom when he discovered he had hit the jackpot. He said: 'I flicked over to watch the National Lottery Winning Lines and recognised my numbers from my birth scroll but didn t have my ticket with me to double check.

'I immediately ran downstairs to my wife Angela and our two daughters to check the numbers again and again before I finally believed it.

'The three of them were as excited as I was. I don t think they really believed what was happening. The win will make such a difference to our lives.

'We both intend to give up work and will spend our money wisely.

'It will be a great Christmas for all the family and we owe it all to my lucky birth scroll my mum said it would bring me luck!

Brian and Angela, whose daughters are Samantha, 14, and Carly, 11, bought the winning ticket from One Stop in Brown s Lane, Uckfield, on the day of the draw.

The couple, who have been playing the National Lottery since its launch, say they plan to continue playing to see if the birth scroll brings them luck again.

Brian s winning numbers were 8, 9, 10, 20, 39 and 40. The couple were one of four to match all six numbers.
