Following the announcement by Thursdays nightclub that it had closed, the Chichester community has been left wondering what the future holds for the Drayton Lane site.
The popular nightclub today (June 22) announced it had closed - despite being open as usual over the weekend.
Chichester District Council said it had no knowledge of the club closing down, leaving many to question whether the statement was merely a publicity stunt or social media joke.
On Thursdays’ Twitter page, the club said the closure was because: “the landlords would like there building back sorry team ts customers.”
The club apologised to its customers for the shock announcement, and thanked them for their support over the years.
People took to social media sites Twitter and Facebook in their thousands to voice their thoughts - with many saying it was ‘sad’ news.
Mary Herting said on Facebook: “I remember when it opened ,it was Martines then waitress service, quite a smart place in those days. After that it was Brookies, fun times. I bet there are loads of stories about what was, a converted cowshed.”
Aaron David RC added: “I can’t believe it, just wow. I was at Chichester College 2001 until 2003 and I used to visit this place. I was a terrible dive and rubbish place but it was kinda fun too.”
