Winds batter scaffolding

Strong winds battered Bognor Regis today to damage some of the scaffolding at a flats development along the seafront.

The extreme conditions led the Environment Agency to issue a flood watch alert for the coastline between Selsey and Littlehampton Harbour this morning (Monday).

But this was lifted at 3.23pm. However, the agency warned that more bad weather caused by a cocktail of high tides, strong winds and heavy rainfall was expected until Wednesday morning.

Train services to and from the town were also subject to delay because of obstructions caused by fallen debris on the tracks elsewhere on the network.
