A PAINTING competition to design a drawing for The Petworth Cookbook saw 43 children enter.
The recipe book is made up of recipes from residents of Petworth and will be sold locally to raise funds for this year’s Petworth Food and Wine Festival.
The competition What does Petworth Taste Like? encouraged children to draw a taste or smell which reminded them of Petworth.
The prizes were given out last Wednesday at Petworth Primary School, and the winner of the competition was Year-3-pupil Max Spearman.
His painting will appear in one of the lead pages of The Petworth Cookbook.
Runners up were Jess Ford, age 10, and Annabel Strange, in Year 2.
Jess won tea and cake for four people at Tiffins Tearoom, in the High Street, and Annabel won the same prize but at the Hungry Guest Cafe, in Lombard Street.
Highly commended prizes went to Chloe and Connor who received colouring pencils and felt tips from The Petworth Gallery. Finally, 43 sketchpads were donated by Rosewarns Estate Agents to be given to all the children who entered, with 43 Easter nest bags from the Petworth Business Association.
