West Sussex Health and Adult Social Care Select Committee (HASC) will be looking at how well West Sussex County Council, clinical commissioning groups and hospitals have worked together to provide care for patients over the winter.

Councillors will review plans put in place by the organisations to tackle the areas under most pressure – for example patient hand overs at hospitals.

Members will also discuss the ability of hospitals to make sure patients are seen within four hours of arrival at A&E, patients discharge figures and delays when patients are moved through the system or between organisations.

Margaret Evans, chairman of the committee said: “It is important that the whole health and social care system works together to address pressures on A&E, emergency services and wider care services.

“The committee will want to understand how effective the projects and schemes in place have been this winter to make sure people get the best response and care, and that their experience of these key services is a positive one.”

The meeting is on Thursday, March 10, at 10.30am at County Hall in Chichester.
