Worthing driver dies after collision on A27 Shoreham diversion route

A TWENTY-YEAR-OLD driver has died at the scene of an accident on the A280 Long Furlong at Findon.

Sussex Police confirmed the fatality this evening (August 25), saying there was a head-on collision at around 6.30pm.

Another driver is in hospital with potentially-serious injuries.

The road is currently the main diversion route for traffic travelling to and from the west of Worthing after the stretch of A27 at Shoreham was closed following Saturday’s plane crash.

According to police, a silver Vauxhall car and blue Ford Fiesta collided at the Findon end of the road.

The 20-year-old man was driving the Ford. The Vauxhall driver was taken to Worthing Hospital.

The road remains closed while police investigate the incident.

There have been long delays in the area with queues of more than two miles reported.
