THERE is a scattering of snow across the Observer area this morning (February 3), with drivers warned to take extra care.
A cold weather alert is in force for West Sussex, with the Met Office reporting the temperature in Chichester as 0ºC at 7am today, with a top predicted temperature today of 4ºC by around 2pm. Similar temperatures are also quoted for Midhurst and Bognor Regis.
Currently, a yellow weather warning for snow and ice was valid from 8.15pm last night until 10am this morning.
The Met Office warned of ‘showers of sleet and snow’ that would affect the area last night and for a while this morning.
“The public should be aware of locally tricky driving conditions,” it said.
As of 7.10am, the West Sussex Road Policing Unit was not reporting any accidents on the roads around the Midhurst, Petworth, Chichester or Bognor Regis areas.
“There is the odd snow flurry across the area. Slow down and adjust your driving according to the conditions,” said the force’s Twitter account.
