Are council behind Heyshott Court name?

I MET Keith Thompson on Monday in Petworth and congratulated him on his letter to the Observer (September 8) expressing puzzlement at the choice of the name for the retirement apartments about to be constructed in Station Road.

He told me that the name Heyshott Court, according to the developers McCarthy and Stone, is the brainchild of Chichester District Council.

Was there any consultation with Petworth Town Council, the Petworth Society or indeed any Petworth representative? From past experience I very much doubt it.

Obviously CDC knows Petworth better than its residents. Perhaps we could be given an explanation for this high-handed decision.
