Bishop is welcome

HOW AWFUL to read Ronald Rodger Caseby’s diatribe about the incoming Bishop of Chichester and traditionalists in the C of E, members of a church enshrined in tradition. By whose authority does Mr Caseby represent ‘the majority of worshipping Anglicans’ and also ‘Chichester Anglicans’?

The man and woman on the Clapham omnibus would surely endorse neither his blinkered view nor his choice of words.

On second thoughts, they probably couldn’t care a toss what he or I write!

Dr Martin Warner, with his talent and experience, should be welcomed as bishop into the ever-broadening church – a church broad enough to encompass even Mr Caseby’s ego.

With supporters like Mr Caseby, Anglican priestesses don’t need enemies.
