It is very sad that the Chichester Festivities has become a victim of this summer’s treacherous weather.
The irony is that 90 per cent of the Chichester Festivities concerts have always been held in the Cathedral, St John’s and other indoor venues.
But their cash cow was always their popular tribute bands’ night at the racecourse which attracted a very different and younger audience, which in turn helped to subsidise the other concerts and talks.
Hopefully something exciting will emerge from the ashes, possibly on the lines of the slightly more modest Petworth Festival.
I do hope so.
