Once – or actually twice – again, Chichester Hospital Radio has cause to thank the people of Chichester and district for their support.
In May, they supported our flag day to the tune of more than £323, and, furthermore, in the same month, the Waitrose supermarket ran another of its Community Matters initiatives where shoppers could put tokens in a choice of slots – and Chichester Hospital Radio has benefited more than £300 from this.
Our sincere thanks to everyone who supported us. We are a registered charity, run entirely by unpaid volunteers, many of whom give not only their time and skills, but use of their vehicles for transporting equipment to our outside events such as flag day and outside broadcasts at various local venues: supermarkets, garden centres, etc.
It is well-established a happy patient gets better sooner, and Chichester Hospital Radio exists to provide a local radio service to St Richard’s, bringing cheer by visiting wards and playing patients’ requests – a service no other radio station can provide – and providing an appropriate mix of music, features and information. Naturally, this free service is only free-to-listen: there are costs associated with running a radio service, and Chichester Hospital Radio depends entirely on donations and membership subscriptions for its funding. So those who’ve supported us are helping us to continue our good work into our 41st year, and beyond.
If anyone wants to submit a request for someone in hospital, you can get in touch by phone 01243 78812 x3000, via www.chr1431.org.uk, email to firstname.lastname@example.org, we’re on Twitter @chr1431, via www.facebook.com/chr1431, or even by letter to CHR Studio, St Richard’s Hospital, Spitalfield Lane, Chichester PO19 4SE.
