Your report last week on the revised master plan for Priory Park made for most welcome reading. It would seem that after years of indecision, the improvements to this precious space in the heart of our city, some of which are urgently required, might soon become a reality.
Inevitably there will be much discussion over funding as well as points of detail such as the siting of the proposed new cricket pavilion and the repositioning of the play area.
However, the overall scheme proposed by the Chichester Conservation Area Advisory Committee is both imaginative and respectful of the park’s remarkable history.
Congratulations are in order to the committee and to the chairman of the Friends, Cllr Plowman, who more than anyone has pursued this elusive bull to the stage where it appears at last to have been grasped firmly by the horns.
