Are you a future Ashes cricket hero?

Young people in Chichester and Selsey who have been inspired by England's Ashes success can take advantage of free cricket sessions.

The eight-week ‘Street 20’ cricket courses, being organised by Chichester District Council and Sussex Cricket, will start next week.

Cllr Nick Thomas, the council’s portfolio holder for culture and sport, said: “The free courses will hopefully inspire anyone who has watched Alastair Cook and the rest of the England Team retain the Ashes, to pick up a bat and try cricket.

“The courses target 11-16 year olds, both boys and girls, and offers the opportunity to play an exciting and dynamic style of cricket.”

The courses are taking place across the whole of Sussex.

The most successful teams will go on to play in a grand final at the end of the programme in April.

Courses in the Chichester District will take place at Selsey’s Manhood Community College, starting next Wednesday (January 26), each Wednesday from 5pm to 6pm, and Chichester’s Swanfield Community Centre, starting next Thursday, weekly from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
