Bognor trampoline duo are bouncing with delight at regional honours

DRAGONFLYERS trampolinists James Smith and Philippe Newton Young represented the south-east region at the zonal schools championships at Bristol Academy.

Close to 500 qualifying trampolinists took part from the south-east, south-west, southern and London regions.

Nine-year-old Philippe opened the day with two stunning performances in the under-11 boys’ elite category and his endless precise somersaulting earned him a fantastic second place.

Smith was not going to be outshone by his young Dragonflyers team-mate and finished the day with two amazing routines, gaining him incredible scores including 8.9 - putting him just 0.2 off first place with silver in the under-15 boys’ elite group.

Smith (The Regis School) and Newton-Young (St Mary’s RC Primary School) have now qualified to represent south England at the British schools national elite finals at Cannock in March.

Dragonflyers are very proud of both boys and look foreward to the event.

The Regis School have a fantastic trampolining reputation with many pupils past and present representing the region and reaching national and internationl level.
