Bognor's darts silverware is shared out

Five teams out of six turned up from division two but oly teams only turned up from division one. Because of this it was decided unanimously to put all teams into one draw. The main knockout is best of three legs, 1001 start.

The first round saw a bye for Newtown Raiders and wins for the Cabin Cruisers, Friary Arms and Hunston Club. The losing teams were the POW A, The Monters and the Old Barn Owls, who all went through to the consolation knockout for losing their first games.

The first semi-final saw the Hunston Club take on the Newtown Raiders, but the Raiders failed to hit the scores and doubles needed as the Hunston Club made the final with a 2-0 win. With this being the Raiders first game, and a loss, they took a spot in the consolation knockout.

The second semi-final saw the Cabin Cruisers face the Friary Arms. A 180 from Adam Judd (Friary Arms) helped them take one leg, but the Cabin Cruisers managed to find some form to take the game 2-1.

The consolation knockout is played as one leg of 1001. The Old Barn Owls took on the POW A in the first match, but despite some good scores from the POW ladies, the Old Barn Owls pushed into the lead and took the double for the place in the final.

The second game saw the Monters against the Newtown Raiders. The Monters had the better start, and had chances, but they failed to take them, letting the Raiders take the win.

The consolation knockout final started with the Karen Winter (Newtown Raiders) winning the bullseye to start the game, and getting her team-mates (Karen Wilson, Rhonda West, Dave Mitchell, Ian Hackett and Mark H Todd) off the mark straight away.

The Old Barn Owls (Dougal Powell, Alastair Ceballos-Anderson, Ian Kewin, Paul van Ewijk, Dean Knight, Paul Potter and Jason Gibbons) had two no-scores, but once they hit the double-in they pushed into the lead with tons from Gibbons, Knight and Powell, and a maximum 180 from Kewin.

Despite those scores they struggled on the double, giving the Raiders chance to close the gap with 81 from Wilson, 82 from Mitchell, 85 from Hackett and 95 from Todd.

But it wasn’t to be for the Raiders who had 45 left. Van Ewijk stepped up, and with five on the board hit single one and double two to take the win, giving the Old Barn Owls the Consolation knockout title 2016/17.

The Pete May team knockout final saw the Cabin Cruisers (Andy Cooper, Jody Cooper, Rob Palmer, Rolf Huber, Pete Butcher and Terry Markey) take on Hunston Club (Julie O’Hara, Andy Stubbs, Rob Misselbrook, Graeme Dutton, Pat O’Hara and Hayley Gatford). The Cabin got the first start while the Hunston missed, but Hunston pulled the scores back with 123 and 140 from Dutton, and 100 and 98 from Stubbs, which left a finish that Dutton hit on his next throw.

The second leg saw the Cabin struggle to get in with the last player getting the double. Meanwhile the Hunston Club forged into the lead with a 72 in-shot from Stubbs, 85 from Pat O’Hara, 140 from Misselbrook and a 180 from Dutton.

Once again on his next throw it was Dutton who hit the finish with treble 20, single 12 and double six, for an 84 out-shot, taking the game 2-0, and giving the Pete May 2016-17 team knockout title to the Hunston Club.
