The competition between the two counties was first played in 1993 and has been played regularly since 1997.

It consists of a match with 12 triples per side selected from county A and B team players. Having lost at Kent last year, West Sussex were eager to regain the trophy and started well, winning the first two sessions 7-5 to lead 14-10 at lunch.

In the third session they excelled, winning seven games and drawing one which left them needing only one point from the final session to be sure of taking the trophy.

The points were shared 6-6 in the final session and with West Sussex winning on shots 241-215 for the two bonus points, they ended up regaining the trophy with a very satisfying 33-17 win.
