His opponent, G Filkins, was the more experienced boxer of the two, but Mason took the contest to him for all three rounds with his powerful two-handed southpaw punches.

Bobbing and weaving Mason caught him and hurt him with his powerful two-handed combinations to head and body. This was the pattern of the contest for all three rounds to earn Mason a well-deserved unanimous decision from all three judges’ scorecards.

Bognor’s Yusuf Shar lost on points to C People after a close-fought contest. Shar won the first round by keeping People at long range with his long straight punches, but in the second and last rounds People came under Shar’s punches to score well and win on points.

This was a great contest between two evenly-fought boxers.
