Maloney signs up for Chichester boxing dinner

ONE of boxing's best-known figures has agreed to attend Chichester's big new-year charity boxing dinner.

Boxing promoter Frank Maloney will attend the event at Westgate Leisure on January 28 to support grass-roots boxing – and hoping to spot the sport’s next big star.

Chichester Priory Rotary Club is hosting the night in association with St Gerards Amateur Boxing Club. It will be the first major amateur boxing show in Chichester for almost 15 years.

Rotary are sponsoring the event to raise much-needed funding for St Gerards and Chichester Boys’ Club.

Maloney said: “I am always happy to help boxing at grass-roots level – this is where we will find the next Lennox Lewis or Amir Khan.

“The Rotary Club of Chichester Priory are doing a fantastic job and I am always happy to help these foundations to help our young fighters.”
