Teachers' strike doesn't leave bognor kids with nowhere to go

SPORTIV8 students responded to the recent teachers' strike by arranging for children from two schools to go to VK Gym in Bognor for a sports day.

The students had to plan and deliver an activity for a group of schoolchildren as part of the level-one certificate in sport they are undertaking.

They sat down and shared ideas on which activities they’d like to include then planned the event, considering health and safety, warming up, stretching, main activities and a cool-down and stretch.

Activities included a shuttle-style run where the children were divided into boys’ and girls’ teams and completed different exercises.

The aim of the event was to encourage teamwork among the Sportiv8 students and the children and engage the youngsters in fun physical exercise.

The event proved a big success as the Sportiv8 students passed their unit and the children enjoyed the day.

Children were presented with certificates made by the students.
