Wiseman's three young men march on

TEAM WISEMAN'S three kings are on the march in the England Boxing Junior Championships.

Bailey Donald, Liam Wiseman and Tyler Hallawell continued their bid for national glory at the Southern Counties stage of the competition.

And that means their club stay on a flying winning run this season as they continue to emerge.

All three of the boxers picked up unanimous successes to back up wins by the same decision in the county round of the competition.

Donald defeated Tunbridge Wells’ Tom Ryan at 60kg with Wiseman beating Deon Ede at 54kg.

Hallawell completed another successful day for the club as he came out on top against Coopers’ George Ging.

Coach, Daron Wiseman, spoke of his pride in the trio.

He said: ‘We had three boys in the competition and they all won in the opening round.

‘We’ve got all the weights covered and they did well in the Hampshire round.

‘They were all unanimous wins and the boys looked the part.

‘So we were looking to build on how well they did.

‘Liam lost to his opponent in the Southern Counties final last year so it was a really tricky bout for us.

‘Ede’s a good kid, no doubt about that, but we used our strength.

‘We tried to box him in round one but he was just too long and awkward.

‘So we decided to put the pressure on and cut the corners - and it worked.

‘Tyler’s opponent was a real strong kid, short and stocky, who just kept coming forward the whole time.

‘Tyler boxed brilliantly against him.

‘Everything was off the jab. It was jab and move and that carried him to the win.

‘Bailey was in an even contest, but his skill just shone through at the end of each round.

‘It was two good kids going at it but Bailey got the unanimous decision.

‘So that’s three boys with six unanimous wins in the competition so far. We’re flying.’

Now the talents look to continue on their path to success today at Gosport.

Wiseman meet Synwell’s Robert Efford with Donald up against Cirencester’s Thomas Verey. Hallawell’s next assignment pits him against Sturminster’s Tommy Weeks.

But all three go into action in confident form as they tap into the energy created at their club.

Wiseman said: ‘It’s one defeat in the last 20 for the club. It’s just unbelievable for little, old us.

‘It’s just win, win, win! Other clubs and coaches keep coming up to us at championships and saying how are you doing it? It’s just hard work and training all the time.

‘The whole gym is just buzzing, both the coaches and the boys. The atmosphere is brilliant.’
