The event was won by national junior champion Maria Tsaptsinos, who won all 11 matches without dropping a set. Peake lost only to Tsaptsinos and runner-up Tin-Tin Ho.

Bishop Luffa School pupil Peake said: “I’m pleased with finishing third – it’s what I was expected to do. I had to dig deep to beat (No4 seed) Denise Payet in five sets because I was struggling in the first two sets.

“I think the thing I’ve got to improve on is winning the tight sets – I lost a couple of close ones to Maria and Tin-Tin.”
