Bush pulls up trees as Bognor demolish Findon

Bognor elected to field with opening bowlers Bush and Jim Lee taking on their usual responsibilities with the new ball.

Bush’s first over set the tone as the youngster claimed a triple-wicket maiden sending Jack Metters, Barry, Meaney and Felix Jordan back to the pavilion without scoring thanks to poor shot selection and good catching including a one-handed stunner from Robert Willway.

Lee and Bush continued to pile the pressure on Findon’s middle order who were nought for three.

Findon’s leading run scorer Bradley Bridson (4) was unable see off Bush and hit one straight to Max Ashmore at point.

Findon’s middle order were unable to survive Bush’s swing and accuracy as two more wickets fell in quick succession. 

With Findon at seven for six Bognor could not believe it.

However Findon’s Andrew Crosland (23*) showed his team-mates how to treat the situation as he remained at the crease defiantly surviving Bush’s onslaught.

Bognor were right into the tail with Lee using pace and accuracy, Sam Mannings and Harry Metters departing in quick succession, both caught behind. Only Findon’s No11 Tom Blake (22) and Crossland were able to boost the score as in some desperation the pair flashed at the ball, with runs resulting until Lee cleaned up Blake.

Findon were all out for a 66 off 21.4 overs.

Bush finished with a career-best seven for 43 off ten overs and Lee taking three for 22.

Bognor started in aggressive fashion as Michael Spaseski (13) and Max Ashmore struck a flurry of boundaries.

Spaseski was dismissed by Tom Blake for 13 and Findon would not go down without a fight as Graham Manser (4-30) claimed Willway and Elliot Clarke in quick succession.

Ashmore played exquisitely until he was also adjudged lbw off Manser for 24 off 27 balls. Bognor edged over the line thanks to Andrew Quincey (16*) and James Fallick (10*).

Pagham v Arundel

Arundel elected to bowl on a damp wicket and the Pagham top order again showed poor judgment.

Will Rolls (27) was the sole performer in the top six and Pagham were facing almost certain defeat at 68 for eight.

But patient batting from Mike Hales (35) and a first league 50 from Bill Turner-Hogg saw the home side reach a respectable 145.

Arundel were similarly fragile and were soon 50 for six, then 99 for nine.

Neil Chitty showed his talents at No11 and with Andy James 76 not out, Arundel required three off the last over, but Chitty got a leading edge off Wayne Green and was caught by Rolls. Hales finished with four for 38, Green three for 22.
