Cameron's a prime mover as Stirlands open win account at Wisborough

Wisborough elected to bat and Stirlands could not have started better with Chris May’s first ball for the club a yorker that rattled into the stumps.

May and Sean Heather kept things tight, restricting Wisborough to ten from the first ten overs. They never got going but were not losing wickets as Stirlands dropped three chances.

Stirlands started to make inroads with Struan Cameron bowling 21 overs from one end and the bowlers being interchanged at the other end.

Wisborough managed 137 for seven from their 53 overs. Cameron finished with three for 46.

Stirlands’ opening pair Sean Heather and Nick Hunt took the score to 19 before Hunt guided a full toss to gully off the back of his bat.

Heather and overseas player Lewis Allan took Stirlands to 39 before Heather chipped one back to the bowler for 20. Leo Beal and Allan put on 45 for the third wicket before Allan (37) top-edged one.

Beal followed shortly and at 91 for four it was in the balance and nerves were evident.

However the experience of Mike Clowes (11) and Chris May (36no) put the visitors at ease and a watchful partnership of 34 was enough to take Stirlands close before Clowes smashed one to point. May clinched it with five wickets to spare.
