Cecil would love to see Frankel take on Black Caviar

FRANKEL'S trainer Sir Henry Cecil says he would love to see his wonder-horse take on Black Caviar in the Qipco Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

In a British Champions Series interview, Sir Henry said that like racing fans around the globe he was excited by the prospect of the two best racehorses in the world meeting this summer.

It’s a propsect Goodwood bosses have been pushing for, with race and champions series sponsors Qipco upping the prize money for the race from £300,000 to £1m.

“Black Caviar is obviously very, very good and very consistent,” said Cecil.

“I’d love them to meet because it’s good for racing. Racing needs to see good horses and it would be lovely to see champions from Australia and England taking on each other – I’d love to see it.

“The only race they could possibly meet is the Sussex.”

Frankel is likely to stay in one-mile contests at least until Royal Ascot, but could step up to one mile, two furlongs in the Coral Eclipse on July 7 or the Juddmonte International on August 22.

Black Caviar won her 21st straight race in Australia last weekend and will soon be Royal Ascot-bound.
