When Penguins did break through, Vaughn, in goal for Centurions, cleared well.

Proctor broke through and scored two in quick succession for Centurions for a 3-0 half-time lead.

The extreme cold was affecting both sides, but the second half saw Brown and Hurford working well to prevent Penguins
crossing the Centurions’ 25-yard line.

Goddard held firm in defence, and did well to deny Penguins a cross pass. Skinner was reliable on the right collecting passes and feeding into the goal.

The cold and the long journey from Hastings appeared to take their toll on the visitors’ spirits with Adams scoring early to settle any Chichester nerves.

The competition to be the team’s leading scorer kept Chichester driving forward with goals coming quickly for Sowden and then Adams again.

The best came when Clark started a move on the left and found Lowther, who held off the defenders and drove into the D to score low in the corner.

The goal showed Chichester the quality of play they have been striving for all season. Their quick passing and movement off the ball was too much for the visitors to handle.

Before half-time, Holden scored his first goal for Chichester after coming off the bench. Chichester’s focus in the second half was to try to get Palmer a goal to celebrate his birthday.

The chance would not fall for him, though, with the Hastings keeper making a strong save off his chest.

Goals did follow elsewhere in the team with two more for Sowden and a third for Adams.

Holden took another opportunity from the top of the area to notch his second of the game to round off a fine performance. Chichester have a trip to Crawley this weekend.
