Alyssa White concluded her very long and successful season in impressive style, winning silver in the under-15 girls’ pentathlon with a string of fine performances - missing the gold by 26 points to Crawley`s Natasha Purchas.

She took the lead in the first event, with a fabulous new personal best 5.00m long jump, followed by another new PB winning time of 12.48sec in a very exciting and close 75m hurdles.

Her 6.80m shot putt was just below her PB, but was enough to maintain her overall lead of 81 points. The high jump saw her equal her PB of 1.35m, but this was Purchas` strongest event and her clearance of 1.56m saw the overall lead change.

Going into the final event, the 800m, the points difference required for her to regain the gold position equated to 14.8sec.

A fine, valiant PB run of 2min 44.35sec saw her beat her rival by 12.2sec – just 2.6sec short of closing the gap – and her overall points tally rise to a personal best 2,487 for silver.

With her main focus always being the sprints, this was a fitting way to end her under-15 career before moving up to the under-17 age group next season.

Eleven-year-old Hollyer overcame early run-up problems to leap out to 3.10m in the long jump, then record 16.29sec for the hurdles, putt the shot an impressive PB 3.98m and jump a 1.11m PB high Jump, before finishing off with a well-judged 3.08.81sec run in the 800m to total up 1,033 points and secure 16th position.
