Star of the day was Fleur Hollyer, who came within a single point of equalling the league record in winning the under-13 girls’ speed bounce with a total of 83.

Earlier she had joined Sophie Dudman for the two-lap sprint with both athletes recording fast times of 24 seconds and then scoring good points in the standing long jump.

With Megan Elkins and Poppy Chandler also in action there was an opportunity for the squad to make their mark in the eight-lap paarlauf and relay.

For the under-11s Lucy Hollyer, Eleanor Farquhar and reserve Jasmine Terry showed promise in a trio of events – two-lap sprint, speed bounce and standing long jump – while Jess Rayner gained good experience for the under-15s, where the new format requires athletes to combine track and field events.

For the boys, Jake Farquhar showed good speed on the track in the under-13 age group while Grant Laurie showed form for the under-11s.

The next fixture is at the same venue on Sunday, December 11, and team managers Phil Baker and Sally Hollyer would be like to hear of other sprinters and jumpers who would like to take the opportunity of using their speed and athletic abilities over the winter.
