Better known for her stronger 200m background, and competing for the first time in the under-20 age group, she opted on this occasion for the shorter 60m sprint.

Drawn in the heats, in the less favoured outside eighth lane, a great drive out the blocks along with her familiar good leg turn-over pick-up phase meant she recorded a sparking new personal best 7.89sec for fifth spot to qualify for the semi-final.

In the expected high-quality line up, she again ran technically soundly to finish a very respectable close seventh in 7.98sec, beating one of her friendly, southern-based rivals in the process.

Meanwhile at the annual YA open meeting at the Lee Valley indoor centre in North London, under-13 Fleur Hollyer was keen to beat her 60m time.

She celebrated in style – winning her first-round 60m race with a great new personal best time of 9.29sec.

In her higher re-seeded second-round race, she came a very creditable fourth, matching her old PB of 9.35sec.
