They have one aim for the season and that is to entertain and be exciting to watch so that the crowds want to keep coming back and support high-quality squash at the club.

The Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club team have retained the services of world-ranked No34 Paul Coll, the current and two-time New Zealand national champion. Coll’s performances last season delighted the crowd and he always gave 100 per cent.

Nathan Lake, currently world No74, returns for his third PSL season at the club. He now regularly represents the club in the Hampshire leagues.

Crowd favourites Tim Vail and Olly Pett return to the club, while Miles Jenkins is a fantastic homegrown talent who learned his trade at the Chichester club. He returns after playing for Birmingham University in the BUCS squash leagues and with the university PSL squad for the past few seasons.

The popular Lauren Briggs will alternate with newcomer Nele Gilis, world No37 from Belgium. Gilis, at just 20, has won every major junior event in Europe and is now making great strides on the ladies’ tour.

Chichester’s first fixture is at home to old rivals St George’s Hill this Tuesday, October 18. Get along and support the team, which will feature Coll, Lake, Vail, Jenkins and Gilis.

In their latest division three west match, Bognor seconds were away to Horsham’s fourth team and just had the edge for a 3-2 win.

The 2016 Sussex under-eight champion Callum Porter moved on to the senior stage as he was given a run-out at No5 and made a good effort against a much more experienced opponent Karen Powell, but lost in three 4-9, 4-9, 6-9.

Elder brother George also went down in straight games against Brian Johnstone 3-9, 0-9, 5-9 but that was the end of success for the home team.

Bognor third string James Norman played consistently to beat Douglas Hudson 9-3, 9-6, 9-5 and Zoe Shardlow, at No2, was well in control against Daryl Farmer winning in three, 9-1, 9-2, 9-7.

Bognor’s No1 was back-to-form Alastair Campbell, who made no mistake in his tussle with Chris Richardson, recording a fourth consecutive 3-0 victory - the score 9-1, 9-5, 9-4, giving Bognor a 3-2 margin and 14 points to Horsham’s six.

Friday, October 21, sees the next home game for Bognor when the firsts take on Chichester - details from 01243 865462 or the club website.
