Chichester tennis tournament is perfect for Poole

Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club hosted an LTA south-east junior tour 14-and-under boys’ singles event.

It was organised using a compass draw format of eight players. Each match comprised two short sets to four games with a match tie-break to ten points if necessary.

The bronze medal was won by William Woolnough (Petersfield), who beat Theo Deasy (PTC) 4-2, 5-3 in a thrilling third-fourth play-off.

Edward Poole, a member of Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club, won the gold medal after his opponent in the final, Daniel Crook from Weald TC, had to retire at 2-0 down in the first set.

Tournament referee Peter Cook said: “The standard of tennis was excellent once again, although the very high temperatures made it difficult for some of the players.”
