Cormorants championships go swimmingly

Chichester Cormorants swimmers competed over two evenings at the Arun Leisure Centre for their annual club championships.

Swimmers competed in the individual medley, breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke and butterfly with the youngest swimmer aged eight and the oldest 83. Everyone made a huge effort, swam brilliantly and had great support.

There were 170 personal bests and 15 new club records set. There were also 14 Sussex county championship qualifying times achieved.

The event could not have been held without the help of 36 volunteers over the two evenings from the official referee to the refreshment providers.

U16: Georgia Ramsey (IM, Back, Breaststroke, Fly; Freestyle); Adam Long (IM, Breaststroke, Freestyle; Butterfly); Joseph Barnett (Backstroke); Open: Amber Hook (IM, Free, Breaststroke, Fly); Francesca Haywood (Backstroke); Sam Pink (IM, Back, Fly, Breaststroke); Edward Richardson (Freestyle); Masters: Kerrin Cruttenden (IM, Back, Free, Breaststroke & Fly); Jane West (IM, Back, Free, Breaststroke & Fly).

The Cormorants have been established for more than 50 years and have a growing and enthusiastic membership. 

They train at Westgate Leisure in Chichester, competing in galas throughout the year.
