The ladies were out to avenge their defeat by Crowhurst Park in last year’s final.

Crowhurst elected to bat. Selsey started with Emma Bain bowling a maiden over and it didn’t take long thanks to outstanding bowling from youngster Lucy Cawley.

Great backing-up and fielding made it tough for Crowhurst to get runs on the board as they were bowled out for just 60 (Bain 0-11, Halford 1-11, Cawley 2-8, Orford 2-7, Gower 1-13, Parnell 4-6).

Halford opened the batting partnered by Cawley. Pacy opening bowlers made it difficult and this led the fall of Cawley’s wicket and she was replaced by Parnell.

Both players grew in confidence, and with the roar of the support on the boundary growing, they began to accumulate runs. Selsey secured victory in the tenth over after a four from Parnell took the Selsey score to 64 (Halford 21no, Parnell 35no).

Selsey ladies - aka The Crabbettes - said a huge thank-you to their coach Alex Vincent for endless support and time he has given them since the team started four seasons ago.
