In the final, Peter Hall, Babs Hills and Ian Hills from Chi Snooker A took on Alex Norgett, Ricky Clark and Dean Cooper from Newtown SC B.

The might of the Newtown players was a little too much for Chi Snooker, who surrendered 2-0 to give Norgett, Clark and Cooper their first title.

Some 27 players took part in division two with the Claremont Cobras teams taking both places in the final.

With one leg of the final going to the team of Gary Blackwood, Dave Juniper and Mike Hales, and the other going to the team of Lucann Forden, Jack Danahar and Wayne Green, it was all about the last leg. Blackwood, Juniper and Hales took their chances eventually to take the title.

In division one, a bumper crop of 39 players were involved. There were no real surprises in the first round and some very close matches in the second.

The first semi-final saw Bognor Legion A’s Tom O’Sullivan, Jim Barnard and Connor Durham take on Wheatsheaf’s Matt Bourner, Harry Annals and Cliff Prior. The second semi-final was between a Wheatsheaf team of Rob Ragless, Richard Ragless and Max Ryan, versus Steve Aizlewood, Pete Mitchell and Steve Taylor from the BRSA A.

The Wheatsheaf teams made the final and Bourner, Annals and Prior beat their team-mates to lift the trophy.

Tuesday Double-in League

The league hosted their team knockout contest. With a good turnout of five teams from each division, the division-one final was between the Claremont and last year’s division-two league winners Crown Snooker.

The Crown couldn’t quite keep up with the current league top team and Claremont took the win. In division two, Chi Snooker C took on the Old Barn from Felpham. Unlucky darts from the Old Barn let the win slip away, allowing Chi Snooker C to take the title. The Claremont will take on Chi Snooker C on finals night.

The consolation for first-match losers had the Richmond Raiders taking on Chi Snooker B in division one and Lamb Steyne facing Richmond A for division two. The Chi Snooker B and Richmond A teams took the divisional wins.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

BDO world championship winner Christian Kist was not the only darts ace making his debut appearance on the famous Lakeside stage this year. Bognor player Cliff Prior competed in the Players’ Championship Cup, sponsored by Holsten Vier after winning local and regional finals earlier this year.

Prior did superbly to reach the final where he was unlucky to lose 3-0 to John Bramble.
