Dragonflyers spread their wings in Oxford
Members of Dragonflyers Trampolining club travelled to Oxford to compete in the grassroots invitational competition. This differs from others as there are no scores awarded for difficulty, so with the emphasis on good form and technique the results are completely dependent on how well the routines are performed.
Starting the day off in one of the biggest groups of the competition was the seven-and-under team of Manon Bailey, Robert Cartwright and Jayden Gates competing at club I level.
With this being the first external competition for all three team members, they did exceptionally well with Bailey taking silver after performing both routines to a high standard and Gates and Cartwright finishing eiggth and 12th respectively. Lucy Hijmans and Rebecca Newman both competed at NDP3 level for the first time and held their nerve to execute their routines with accuracy. Hijmans claimed fifth in the 13-and-under age group and Newman second in the over-14 group.
Also competing in the older age group was Lana Collyer, finishing in fourth place.
Competing in the grade G/NDP 1 over-14 age group was Jess Murray, who performed both her routines with strong technique, leading to her receiving her highest form scores to date.
This was rewarded with first place and the rising star trophy - an award given to the competitor who achieved the highest scores across all of the grade G/NDP 1 groups throughout the day.
Continuing the success was Amelie Nicolson, who took bronze in the nine-and-under club H level; Rosie Budge, first in the Grade E/NDP 4 group, and Natalie Pullen and Alice Chapman, who took gold and silver in the grade D over-14 group. Dragonflyers are hoping to continue their success in up-coming national league and international competitions.
