Dunlop's Goodwood colt is more than a Mirage for lucky Bev

LUCKY Chichester Observer reader Bev Downie has met the racehorse whose every move she will be following for the next two years.

Bev, from Birdham, was drawn from among hundreds of entries as the winner of our competition win a share in the latest horse acquired by the Goodwood Raechorse Owners’ Group.

It means she has a £925 share in the syndicate owning Goodwood Mirage, a fine young colt being handled by the acclaimed Arundel trainer John Dunlop.

As part of her prize, we arranged for Bev, with husband Barrie, to go to Dunlop’s Castle Stables to see Goodwood Mirage.

As an added bonus on the day, she was able to watch GROG’s three-year-old, Goodwood Atlantis, being put through his paces on the gallops.

Under the watchful eye of Dunlop, Goodwood Mirage, now a two-year-old, is shortly due to begin faster work before making his racecourse debut.

Bev said: “I had a great time meeting Goodwood Mirage. He’s gorgeous and I can’t wait to follow him over the next couple of years.

“It was also such a privilege to have spent some time with Mr Dunlop.”
