Ellie and Mia help gym team retain International Cup

Chichester-based Mia Brown, ten, and Felpham’s Ellie Pacey, 12, play important roles in the team and feature in the majority of the trampette and tumble runs.

After a change in coaching staff, the decision not to enter the British Championships in order to focus on retaining the International Cup seems vindicated.

The girls won the Italian leg in June and were narrowly beaten to the gold medal in the British leg by current British champions Leatherhead and Dorking in October.

With two very good scores posted by PSG, an agonising wait followed as further legs of the competition took place in France and Spain.

The final results have been released, showing the Portsmouth club have defended their title and will again receive the main prize of a week of training and hospitality in Cesenatico, Italy.

The result is a fitting way for Ellie to finish her career in TeamGym as she moves on to face other challenges. Meanwhile, Mia will try to follow in the footsteps of her older siblings as a rebuilt and talented team of youth gymnasts look to win their first British championships in 2015.

With European Allstar team member and University of Chichester student Hema Gaur Sharma and senior team-mate Lauren Smith now at the coaching helm and a recent influx of artistic gymnasts coming into the squad, the future looks very bright.

Along with the British championship, the PSG girls will also be targeting winning the International Cup for a second consecutive year.
