Fontwell Park bosses: We can beat the big freeze

Fontwell Park officials remain cautiously optmistic next Tuesday's (Dec 7) meeting will survive the weather.

With much of this week’s racing abandoned because of snow and frost, they are keeping a close eye on the long-term forecast, hoping their penultimate card of 2010 will go ahead.

General manager Phil Bell said: “The forecast we’ve seen suggests a thaw on Sunday, and providing that happens and then continues on Monday, we’ve a better than 50/50 chance of our meeting being on.”

If the thaw comes, a seven-race card will get under way at 12.40 with the last race off at 3.40pm.

It’s Christmas party day in the hospitality boxes and Fontwell have again had a good number of advance bookings and hospitality sign-ups – which has been a theme throughout the year.
