Fontwell Park's Boxing Day prospects remain 50/50

There will be an inspection at 11am on Christmas Day to assess the prospects for the Boxing Day race meeting at Fontwell Park.

The course is raceable today (Dec 24) underneath the frost protection covers. Temperatures are due to drop to -1C overnight but general manager Phil Bell said: “This should not present us with any problems.

“Saturday night is forecast to be very cold (-4C). Temperatures are then forecast to rise to +5C on Sunday. The chances of racing remain 50/50.”

Fontwell are hoping for a crowd of 6,000-plus if the meeting survives, and losing it to the weather would be a big blow.

We will have the result of the Christmas Day inspection on this website as soon as we get it.
