Fontwell in running for trio of racing awards
Fontwell Park racecourse has been nominated for three awards at the prestigious Racecourse Association's annual showcase and awards event in November.
Nominated in the best campaign, owners’ experience and digital/social media excellence categories, Fontwell impressed the independent judging panel sufficiently to become one of five finalists in each category and will be hoping to be crowned winners at the award ceremony at Doncaster on 17 November.
The best campaign Award celebrates excellence in the sphere of marketing, increasing the appeal of racing to new audiences and improving the frequency of visits among customers.
The digital/social media excellence award celebrates best in class in the world of digital presence and social media. For the owners’ experience award, Racehorse Owners Association members were invited to demonstrate where racecourses have met and exceeded expectations relating to the raceday experience of owners.
Celebrating excellence and innovation on British Racecourses the RCA showcase and awards feature a daytime seminar with a variety of speakers from racing as well as other sports and leisure industries before the awards ceremony in the evening.
Executive director of Fontwell Park Simon Williams said: “For the past 18 months, there’s been a renewed focus on the owners’ experience across ARC given the clear benefits it brings in attracting quality horses to the racecourse. We’re privileged to have been identified as a racecourse doing it right.
“In addition, we’re delighted to see results from our continued investment in marketing, specifically digital and the innovative use of social media which have really contributed to great rewards with record crowds at our family fun day and fantastic engagement with the Finding Miss Fontwell competition on Ladies’ Day.”
Racecourse Association chairman Maggie Carver said: “The RCA Showcase & Awards is one of the highlights of the year for racecourses and we have seen the number and standard of submissions increase yet again, making 2016 another difficult one for our judging panel.
“It is an amazing achievement to be named as a finalist and inspiring to see such a wide range of racecourses on the lists.
“I am delighted for the team at Fontwell Park Racecourse and it is testament to the hard work they put in all year round. We are now looking forward to finding out who all the winners are.”
The seventh edition of the RCA showcase and awards is supported by Moet Hennessey, and is as competitive as ever with racecourse submissions increasing by ten per cent to 77. There are ten main awards in total, covering all aspects of racecourse operation, with the ultimate goal of celebrating and rewarding initiatives which enhance the customer experience.
