Fontwell set for bumper crowd for first evening card of 2012

Fontwell Park bosses are ready for one of their biggest crowds of the season when they stage their first evening meeting of 2012 tomorrow.

A seven-race card is complemented by post-racing live music from funk and soul specialists The Reel Deal.

Course officials have been delighted by a whopping 178 entries across the seven races – which is one race more than Fontwell has traditionally staged for an evening meeting.

All the top trainers are involved and many of the country’s leading jump jockeys are due to appear.

Action on the track begins at 5.15 with the Chandlers Mini Worthing Countryman Classic Maiden Hurdle with the last race at 8.15, the FJ Willett And Son Memorial Standard Open National Hunt flat race.

The live music kicks off straight after that final race.

The ten-piece Reel Deal Band will perform a set of funk and soul classics, as well as modern hits with their own twist. They feature vocalists who have sung with Adele.

Gates open at 3.15pm and Fontwell’s Emma Newbery said everything was set for a great evening’s racing and music.
