Another big night of football

Rye United and Sidley United have important games in Sussex County Football League Division One, while Bexhill United are in Sussex RUR Charity Cup action.

Third-placed Rye will be keen to build on their dramatic weekend win at Lancing when they host St Francis Rangers. Rye have a good record against the Saints, but the mid-Sussex side has won its last three league matches.

“It’s a game we’re looking to win, especially being at home. I would love to be unbeaten at home all season,” said Rye manager Scott Price, who expects to welcome back captain Shaun Loft.

Sidley will be eager to end their five-match winless run when they travel to managerless AFC Uckfield in a second-bottom versus fifth-bottom encounter.

Assistant manager Jamie Podmore said: “It’s a must-win game. We really do need to get three points there.” Zack McEniry is on stand-by to play in goal if Matt Dann can’t make it.

Sam Willett is struggling with an ankle injury picked up right at the end of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Selsey, while Kenny Pogue is unlikely to be fit. Kevin Bird and Terry Payne may be added to the squad.

Division Two side Bexhill will hope to continue their unbeaten record so far this season as they head to mid-table Division One outfit Shoreham for an RUR Cup second round tie.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw at home to Littlehampton Town in the league on Saturday, Bexhill manager Darrol Parris said he planned to give starts to Casey Ham and Steve Mote. Ali Adams should return, but Joe Cornwall is away.

All three matches are due to kick-off at 7.45pm.
