Blades cut down to size by Felpham

Felpham Colts 2 Preston Blades 0

At a wet and windy Shrubbs, these teams met for the third week running and again it proved to be a tight match.

Playing against the wind, the Colts started strongly. Luke Hubbard picked up the ball on the halfway line, beat three players and smashed an unstoppable shot which hit the underside of the bar and bounced down off the post only for the keeper to save on the line.

Felpham started the second half explosively. Josh Mines sent in one of his cheeky corners which fooled everyone and nestled in the back of the net and minutes later Mines chipped a corner into the box for Hubbard to rise and head home.

Sub Sam Blunt was exceptional and gained the man-of-the-match award. The whole team were amazing in keeping the team four points clear at the top.

Worthing Town Blue 0 Chi City Colts 2

A goal in each half from Roman and Smith saw Colts claim the win.

In wet and windy conditions Colts took the lead in the first half when a long-range shot from Roman was fumbled into his own net by the Worthing keeper.

Playing against the wind in the second half, the Colts defence coped well and Colts scored a second on the counter-attack with a good run and left-foot finish from Smith.

Predators Youth 1 Lancing Rangers 2

The pattern was set early with the Predators over-run in midfield but dangerous on the break.

Solid defending by Tommy Sanctuary and man of the match Alex Burford prevented Lancing from dominating and Predators created the better chances.

In the second half Predators took the lead as Jordan Smith slotted home a penalty. Having looked so secure, Predators then self destructed in the last five minutes as Lancing equalised straight from the kick-off and were presented with a winner following an awful defensive mix-up.

UNDER-14

Rustington Otters 4 Chichester City Colts 4

Chi City Colts made it three games unbeaten with a pulsating draw at Rustington.

The hosts quickly built a deserved 2-0 lead but the second goal seemed to wake up the Colts and they began to take control and captain Gilyead halved the deficit.

However, the hosts regained their two goal advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Rustington started the second by going 4-1 up. Then Jack Graham scored a quite remarkable five-minute hat-trick to drag the Colts level.

After that, Graham hit the bar and the post, George Cody hit the post twice and Rustington nearly won it when they hit the bar in the closing minutes. A brilliant block by Jake Smyth kept the scores level.

UNDER-16

Chi City Colts 0 Pagham Colts 7

In difficult conditions and on a sticky pitch, Pagham recorded a comfortable victory.

Dan Watson opened the scoring following a Jack Parham flick-on, then the same two combined for Parham to make it two. Watson was again the provider as he allowed Ben Haines to shoot in the bottom corner for a third before the interval.

Johan VanDriel picked out Jordan Charles and he fired in. Midway through the second half, Dan Watson added Pagham’s fifth and sixth to complete a fine hat-trick.

A Dan Gonzalez header from a Charles cross completed the scoring.

Hove Rivervale 6 Pagham Youth 1

This was Pagham’s third successive game against county-standard opposition and in the end Hove Rivervale proved too strong in the third round of the County Cup.

Hove did not have it all their own way with Pagham giving them a few scares but Hove went in 2-0 up at half-time.

Pagham restarted in livelier fashion, testing the Hove defence, but Pagham were eventually outdone by Hove’s pacy forwards as they stormed to a 5-0 lead.

Pagham got a deserved consolation from Jack Barnes following good work from Rory Wood. Hove snatched one more just before the end with a dubious penalty.
