Bosham 16 Ferring 1

SCFL division two

Bosham were in no mood for sympathy this weekend as hapless Ferring made the trip to Walton Lane and were duly routed by a Robins side intent on securing maximum points and boosting their goal difference.

Marco Giambelardini hit five goals in a pummelling that began as early as the fourth minute when Ryan Coombes headed home easily at the back stick from a lovely Louis Bell cross.

Despite a bright start from the visitors, they were two down on the quarter-hour when Bell doubled the Reds’ lead. Bell unleashed an unstoppable drive from long distance to leave keeper Dom Jobson well beaten.

Neil Redman got in on the act – he was in the right place at the right time to round off a sweeping move.

On the half-hour Bell made it four with another quality strike into the bottom corner and minutes later Bradley Miles made it five with a rasping finish.

Ferring continued to plug away and Connor Curry found himself through on goal but he contrived to waste the opportunity and the Yellows were made to pay as Bosham netted twice more before the break through Miles and Giambelardini.

After the interval Giambelardini grabbed his second, leaving Jobson totally wrongfooted. Callum Fewell came on and was quickly involved in number nine for the rampant Reds, this time finished well by Harry Stephens.

Bell was next to score, shooting past an increasingly-disspirited defence to take the score to double figures and seal a hat-trick. Fewell produced one of his trademark towering headers and Coombes got his second of the game, deflecting an effort from Miles into the net.

Giambelardini got the 13th with a scrappy goal, followed by Miles grabbing his third with a scorching finish and Giambelardini grabbed his fourth with another rasping shot.

Annoyingly, from a Bosham perspective, hopes of a clean sheet for the Reds were blown away in the final few minutes when Adam Calway sealed a deserved consolation for the visitors who never gave up despite the painful scoreline.

Worthing Leisure 0 Sidlesham 4

SCFL division two

Sidlesham kept up the pressure on leaders Bosham with a comfortable win at Worthing Leisure.

With Joe Leggatt suspended and Matt Roberts ill, Sidlesham had to reshuffle the back four, welcoming back Toby Pointing and giving a debut to 17-year-old Reece Colbourne.

Sids started really well with a more direct style because of the pitch and it wasn’t long before Tom Bayley went close with a shot on the turn after being put in by John Phillips.

Sidlesham took the lead as a great header from Tom Kelly saw Bayley race clear and volley over the oncoming keeper.

The second wasn’t far behind as a corner by Callum Dowdell found the head of Tom Jefkins, who headed on for Bayley to bury his header beyond the diving keeper.

Worthing didn’t really test the Sidlesham defence and the impressive Steve Williams and Pointing were rock-solid. Tom Sandals was man of the match.

The second half saw Sidlesham again have the lion’s share of possession and chances with Worthing tortured by the frontline of Bayley, Dowdell and Kelly.

It was Dowdell who finished off a superb move involving all three, volleying home at the far post.

Worthing did have a couple of set-plays but these were dealt with by Connor Kelly in the Sidlesham goal.

Sidlesham’s fourth came near the end when a push on Dan Bassil from a corner resulted in the referee pointing to the spot with Bassil converting sending the keeper the wrong way.
